Pense Daycare Centre

In 2022, the Pense Daycare Committee applied for the new Ministry of Education (Early Years Branch) grants to develop new childcare spaces. They were originally allotted 23, but quickly realized that the community could facilitate more than that. They worked with the Ministry to request additional funding and secured enough to build a space that can accommodate 75 children! Pense Daycare Centre Inc was formally incorporated as a nonprofit cooperative business.

Construction is underway, and the new Pense Daycare Centre is scheduled to officially open its doors in January 2026.

The Pense Daycare Committee is overseeing the development of this project. And while funds from the federal and provincial governments have helped get it off the ground, the centre itself will require other capital to carry on as a going concern. More specifically, construction costs will be significantly more than government funds, meaning the Committee and the users of the facility will need to pay for the remainder of the project by taking out a mortgage and through fundraising activities.

Their first significant fundraiser is to erect a ‘Wall of Legends’ in the main entrance of the new building. This moment will list the names of individuals and companies that have donated funds to making the building a reality. There will be 160 spots on the Wall, reflecting the RM of Pense’s number.
